3-Stripe Baby Tennis Shoes

This is really how I design something...

Monday night while my husband was doing a little work from home, I sat on our bed with my crochet hook and 2 colors of yarn and started to make what turned out to be my latest design, baby tennis shoes made to look just like the real thing.
I didn't write the pattern down until the next day because it was all in my head.

I made the sole, then made the 3-stripe sides and didn't have any idea how I was going to turn it into a shoe...but as I looked at it and moved the pieces around, the design just came together. It's rather like playing Scrabble...you have these letters on your tray and you don't know what words they can form until you begin to shuffle them around...and then you can just see the words taking shape.

My husband thinks these little shoes turned out "really awesome." I'd love to hear your comments also!

  1. This is such a fantastic pattern, I just love it, They turn out super cute and have that unique feel about them as they look like sneakers but are perfect for those newborn feet. I am addicted to this pattern at the moment :)

  2. I know you posted this a long time ago, but I HAD to comment. I recently found your Etsy shop through a friend, and was looking through your patterns and found this and feel in love! I even blogged about it. :) I am expecting my 3rd boy and my husband hates buying baby shoes, but I love them. What a great deal that we can get this pattern for $4 and I can make some adorable shoes for him. There are so many of your patterns I love. You are so talented!

  3. Thanks, Kara. :) If/when we have a boy, I'll be making him a few pairs of these too. :) Congrats on your expanding family!
