Holland's Opa & Oma

We've been enjoying a lovely visit from my husband's parents this weekend. They have come all the way from the Netherlands to see us. It is a real homecoming for them as they have been living in Europe for the past 7 years, but lived in New Zealand for 30 years before that! They leave today to visit other family and friends, but will come back to spend another weekend with us in Auckland before flying home.
Opa gave Holland a pair of little Dutch clogs (Klompen) which she enjoys dancing around in or carrying around the house. She also spent some time outside weeding the garden with Oma.
I've been too busy with guests to do much crocheting of late, but am excited to say I've received my "slipper swap" partner, so look forward to designing some new ladies ballet flats for her. :)

  1. Wow, Holland looks a LOT like her "Opa". I bet he's proud of that!
I was under the impression those were only German names as my husband's German grandmother was called his Oma.

  2. "Opa & Oma" is both Dutch and German. Dutch is a bit of a mix between German and English. Learning Dutch will probably corrupt the German I know. :)
